People Need People Stickers - "It's OK to Be Carried" Design

to be supported
to have an elbow held up
+ a water bottle lifted
to be cared for
+ to be helped 

are all things i’ve had to learn weren’t inherently bad. i spent a lot of time trying to calculate the things I need in order to make myself small, in order that others wouldn’t have to help me. 

and it’s not worth it. 

and people actually want to help. 

one time i was talking about my “burden complex” with a friend + how it was hard to ask for help. my friend looked to his backpack and said “well, that’s a burden that i have to carry. but what’s in it is important to me. i’d rather be with it than without it. so I carry it.”

so maybe I am a burden,

but yet those around me have showed me over + over how much joy it brings them to carry, to hold my elbow up, + hold my water bottle. they’ve never failed to fill in my weaknesses with their strengths. 

so maybe i’m a burden worth carrying. 

++ maybe we all are. it’s not just me + my physical needs and weaknesses. it’s you and yours. i need people. you need people. all people need people. 

+++ it’s a bEAUTIFUL thing when you allow yourself to need people. because i’ve had to let myself be helped, i’ve experienced love in a way that is deep and tangible, that a lot of people don’t get to experience. + honestly, don’t allow themselves to experience. 

it takes a level of bravery to let yourself be carried by those around you. physically, mentally, emotionally- but you’re worth that. and people want to show you that."
